Message From The Race Director

Congratulations to all who finished the Earlysville Turkey Trot 5k or Half Mile Kids Run Thanksgiving Morning!

Located in downtown Earlysville, in the friendly neighborhood of Earlysville Forest, the seventh annual Earlysville Turkey Trot took place under clear blue skies with a record turnout and volunteers.

On this beautiful Thanksgiving Morning, there were many fast runners, a few turkeys out running hungry pilgrims, kids enjoying the festive running scene in the luxury of their strollers, and grandparents running with their grandkids. It was quite a sight and fun time had by all.

The top male overall 5k winners of the day were David Wertz of Arlington, VA who crushed the course and set a new record in 16:09, Mike Fox of Shipman took 2nd in 17:02 and 15 year old Matthew Salem of New Castle, VA took 3rd overall in 18:00 flat! For the women’s overall 5k winners, Jennifer Owen’s of Charlottesville cruised to take the win in 18:07 and fourth overall, Kendall Tata of Standardsville took 2nd in 19:56, and Madeleine Hayes of Warrenton, VA took 3rd overall in 20:36! Happiness is being a part of an incredible triathlon training camp with amazing people in warm, sunny, San Diego during the winter time. For the 2nd year in a row, I was grateful to be invited again by fellow XTERRA friend and 2x XTERRA World Champion Lesley Paterson, to participate in her 2nd annual Braveheart Highland Games triathlon training camp. Nearly 100 of Lesley's coached Braveheart athletes came from all around the world to participate for 4-days in intense training and learn from top notch clinics from her sponsors she utilizes like Rehab United, an incredible physical therapy & massage center for athletes. The pics below include a group photo before climbing up Palomar Mnt, scenic pic from Palomar Mnt and 22% grade hill repeats completed after the epic hilly 40 mile Great Western Loop. For those looking for a new coach, this annual camp is included for free for many of her athletes! I'd highly recommend Lesley and her husband Simon Marshall if you are looking to achieve some more serious triathlon goals! ... See MoreSee Less
